Both of the girls slept well and mama made us all a nice breakfast for Lily's second birthday. Homemade waffles with blueberries, strawberries and whipped cream ... MMMMMM
... and Gigi had picked up balloons
The girls loved it!
Then we took off to Monterey with Gigi in tow to spend the day at the Monterey Bay Aquarium (courtesy of guest passes from Mom Mom and Ryan). The route there was terrible as there had been an awful crash and the highway was closed. It meant it took us about two hours to get there through a detour, but the girls were great and just slept. Once there we are all ready to go!
It was a beautiful day. You can see all the seals lining the beach, relaxing in the sun.

The aquarium was just beautiful and both our girls were fascinated!
This was Lily's favorite part I think. She could stand up on the ledge and lean over the tank perfectly to look down on the sharks, or she could climb down and look right through the glass at the sharks. She LOVED IT and as opposed to a lot of the other areas, it was actually pretty empty so she got to take her time and climb all over it.
The gals were having a great time. Happy Birthday Lily!
The view from the window at the aquarium - not too shabby
In the kid area, there was a big water bed mat that Chloe loved. Lily preferred to watch all the other kids run around.
Out of many, many pictures in this clamshell, this was the best one =)
Then Gigi treated us to a nice lunch at Bubba Gump's ... where both girls discovered mac and cheese. Lily was an ANIMAL, just shoving it her face and making crazy noises. She loved it.
Then, since it was her birthday, we let her eat the whole cup of Jello that came with it ... it left her quite blue
You can call me Forrest
Time to head home
Just having some nice tickle time before the car ride home
Then Nonnie and Poppie came over for pizza, cupcakes and presents! Lily was having a blast!
Then we went outside to set off some fireworks and had a great time. Lily was wearing her birthday had that her dad made her of old wrapping paper ... looking like a rock star
Then it was back inside to enjoy all of her presents. She got a trampoline and LOVES it. She runs around the room and then climbs up on it and starts jumping.
She even asks for us to put Chloe up there with her and bounces them both.
Then she opened her last present, a brand new scooter
... and took it for a ride. Watch out there speedy gonzales!
